Outdoor Gas Firepits

Outdoor gas firepits are the ultimate accessory to making the most of your garden. Perhaps accessory is the wrong word. Most people who invest in an outdoor gas firepit wonder how they survived before having it installed and would now consider it a necessity! Some people cannot use wood fires as they are prohibited in certain states. This doesn’t mean that you cannot have a natural gas fire so it always best to check local building regulations before outlaying any cash. Other people prefer gas as it is much cleaner than wood as well as lighting quicker and being easier to extinguish.

There are many different outdoor gas firepits (and other varieties) on sale and the most suitable one for you will depend on your budget, your personal taste and also your plans for your home. If you intend living in this house for years to come then investing in a custom outdoor gas firepit is well worth it. However if you intend moving or are currently renting, this would be a wasted investment and one of the outdoor gas fire bowls you can buy may be more suitable.

Before you make any decision you need to ask yourself a couple of questions. Are you looking to use the outdoor gas firepit for family meals or for catering for large groups? The answer to this question will dictate the size of appliance you require. How much you want to spend will also be a factor as will the amount of time you want to spend on maintenance.

You may want to install an outdoor kitchen. These look amazing especially when completed using decorative stone. They should be very well planned and it pays to consult a landscape gardener for help with this project. An outdoor gas firepit is usually at the heart of this feature with the refrigerator and sink being nearby.

If you plan on building a custom made fire, you need to engage a professional as amateurs should never deal with gas installations. The costs of the project will vary depending on the design you choose and the materials you use but you are probably looking at a cost in the $5000 – $15,000 or more bracket. If you have a large outdoor space, a beautiful fire pit may add value to your property.

When looking for a professional it is always best to ask your friends and neighbors for some referrals. Then interview the tradesmen asking them pertinent questions including names and addresses so you can have a look at other jobs they have completed. They would usually carry a photo album containing pictures of previous jobs. They should be a member of the better business bureau as well as being qualified to work with gas installations. If you find that they cannot answer your questions or appear reluctant to help then do not engage them. If they don’t have the right attitude before you hire them they will not develop it afterward

If custom made outdoor gas firepits are too expensive or not suitable for your personal requirements, don’t despair. With more people wanting to make use of their outdoor space, the grill manufacturers have realized there is a whole new market to whom they can sell their products. This has lead to increased competition which is great for you the consumer. It means better products from the point of view of quality and choice available as well as better prices as the manufacturers compete with each other for your business.

You can narrow down the choice available by making a couple of decisions. Do you want to use your gas outdoor firepit for cooking or simply for heating purposes? Do you want an old fashioned look or one made from modern materials e.g. stainless steel? Do you want a circular or square effect? Small or large? Do you want to use propane or natural gas? You may decide you prefer the outdoor gas fire bowls or fireplace style instead of a firepit.

If you are looking to recreate a camping effect, you could have a look at the Camp Chef range. This is small enough to take with you to the park or on a camping trip as well as using it in your own backyard. At less than $220 it will not break the bank and you will get hours of fun out of it. The logs give it the look of a real fire but you don’t have the hassle of cleaning up the ash afterward. It is powered using propane gas.

Other styles include a Square Table gas fire pit or a stainless steel outdoor firepit. If you want a decorative outdoor feature for heating rather than cooking, the Tuscan fire pit is just fabulous. It has an inbuilt cocktail table so is perfect for entertaining your guests and keeping them warm on a chilly summers evening.

Regardless of which outdoor gas fire pits you choose, I am sure that they will aid you and your family’s enjoyment.

Backyard Fire Pits

Have you considered installing a backyard fire pit? Perhaps you love going camping and want to avail of a similar experience without leaving your home. Or you may love spending time outdoors and want to maximize the time available by having a heating system in place for when the cooler nights arrive. Or you may just love having friends over to barbeques, sharing beers and meals with family. Whatever the reason there are so many fires to choose from, you will have no problem finding the perfect one for your needs.

People tend to love outdoor fire pits. They most closely resemble the traditional camp fire and they are great for toasting marshmallows or cooking a meal over. Some people will add a fire pit or bowl to a patio area and use this as their outdoor kitchen when the weather permits. Nothing tastes better than a home cooked barbeque.

Depending on the size and type of fire pit you choose, you can use them for grilling or as a rotisserie or in some cases both. You can decide whether to burn charcoal or wood. Some people insist that wood makes the meat taste better but it is a personal preference.

Backyard fire pits come in a range of sizes. If you have plenty of space in your garden, you could look at installing a circular stone seat around the fire pit. This would make a fantastic feature piece in your backyard while also providing plenty of seating for family and friends. If you opt for the installed pit, a hole will be dug in the garden and will be filled in with metal and bricks. This will contain the fire so it doesn’t spread to the surrounding grass. When deciding on the location of the pit, keep it as far away as necessary from your house and other structures.

If you don’t want to dig up the ground, you can buy a backyard fire pit from most garden stores. They come in a variety of styles and prices but are not very expensive. The benefit with a store bought one is that you can pick an all enclosed option if you have small children or pets in your family. You can also take it with you when you move home. You may choose to have a natural gas fire or one that uses propane fuel.

Some people love the idea of an outdoor fire pit but they lack the space to install one. Or they may live in an area that prohibits them. In that case, they may be able to opt for a small fire bowl instead. Fire bowls also come in various sizes as well so you can opt for a small dainty fire if you do not have huge amounts of space available. Some fire bowls are extremely reasonable in price so you can have a touch of heat on the patio if budget is a constraining factor. Obviously the bigger bowls will give off more heat and burn more fuel than the small varieties.

Regardless of what style of backyard fire pit you choose, always keep safety in mind. You could very easily start a larger fire if you are careless. Children love to run around the garden so your fire should never be somewhere that will pose a danger to them. Also never leave kids unattended if you have a fire on in the garden or anywhere else. It is completely pointless telling them not to touch it. Have you heard the expression moths to a flame? If you are new to cooking with a fire pit, make sure that the food is cooked thoroughly and the utensils used are clean. There are many horror stories of people eating half cooked burgers and sausages at garden events. One way to help avoid this is to precook food in the oven and finish it over the fire.

You need to consider the location of the fire particularly if you buy a backyard fire pit from the store. Some people will put their portable fireplaces on the wooden patio. This should only be done if the unit you buy is designed to be used in that way. Others think that it is ok to put an outdoor fire directly onto the grass in the mistaken belief that grass acts as a barrier to fire. This is not true. Usually the best place for portable outdoor fire pits is on stone surfaces preferably specially prepared for this purpose. A traditional fire pit will have been protected using bricks and metal.

Before you get carried away and buy the outdoor fire pit of your dreams, check with your local authorities as to whether there are any restrictions in place on their use. Sometimes they are completely forbidden and in other cases, the times or seasons they can be used in may be restricted. It is best to check before you run into problems. A backyard fire pit should be a source of enjoyment not hassle.

Outdoor Fireplace Grill

An essential item for party gatherings and romantic evenings, an outdoor fireplace grill adds a classic touch and charm to the garden, patio, pool area or the backyard. Fireplace grills in distinctive styles and finishes are available for outdoor cooking. Some fireplace grills cook food directly over the flame, while others use indirect heat through an oven. An outdoor fireplace can be easily converted into a fireplace grill.

Considering the outdoor fireplace grills available, wood, charcoal, gas, and artificial logs are some of the popular types. Most of them are made of stainless steel or other durable metal, with designer hammered copper bowls and top, fine wire mesh spark screens, one or more sliding doors, water-proof back covers, fire tools, one or more porcelain coated cooking grids, ash catchers for easy clean-up, and chimneys with rain caps. Food is placed over the cooking grid and heat is applied using an appropriate burning source.

The wider inner area is useful for easy loading of burning substances.

Charcoal burning outdoor fireplace grills fill the grate with charcoal along its entire length. The smooth, adjustable grill can be moved up or down, and can be quickly removed for cleaning. The flare intensity can be increased by adding more coal.

Wood burning fireplace grill has an extra large glass viewing area and polished brass finish glass doors. Most of the fireplace interiors are decorated with durable material, while some others have black fire screens to protect against sparks.

Gas outdoor fireplace grills are easy to use fireplace grills with adjustable safety valve controls. These fireplaces have steel bodies and meshes for safety and durability, adjustable safety valve controls, stainless steel burners, and metallic enamel finish on top lids and bottom bowls. These are easy to use, store and transport from one place to another. The burning source used is usually liquid petroleum or natural gas.

Portable outdoor fireplace grills, specifically designed for outdoor enjoyment, are available with two or three wheels for easy transportation and have cooking grids. Their full dome spark screens protect the food from flying insects.

How to Increase Your Home’s Value With an Updated Fireplace Design

A unique fireplace design that fits into the general design of a home gives the home a distinctive mark which greatly increases its value. Luckily for all who are in the process of building new homes or redesigning current ones to give them a face lift, fireplace design is a wide field in which exist a lot of options that one could choose from. The fireplace design should not be done in a mundane manner using common designs but should be well thought out to give the home a look unique to itself.

The underlying principle that should guide the design of the fireplace is what kind of fuel is going to be used for the fire. To this end a designer would have to consider a wood burning fire place or a fireplace using other fuels like gas. The choice of which type of fireplace to build would of course be taken after careful consideration of the pros and cons proffered by the various fuels. The wood burning stove would for example be best for those who would be comfortable with the smell of smoke and love the old nostalgic feel that comes from the smell of burning wood whereas gas systems are more modern and offer a cleaner environment.

The other advantage of the traditional designs is that they are time-tested and so are ageless and can be used with any modern house designs. Contemporary designs run the risk of being seasonal and may prove unreliable and out of place when the particular trend loses taste.

Fireplace designs range from the materials used to build them to their final location on the grand design of the home. In these categories can be found designs of stone fireplaces and brick fireplaces to corner fireplaces and outdoor fireplaces. The size of the fireplace should be taken into consideration for example an indoor fireplace should be measured just right so as not to deny space to other essential inclusions in the house. An outdoor fireplace should not be too small such that it loses its presence when considered in light of its surroundings.

Back to the faux materials. If you want to create a custom material look and save money at the same time, consider a primarily cement built fireplace with faux siding panels of any number of materials. Stacked stone panels on top of the cement structure, just to throw out an idea, will make for a high-end looking fireplace for a fraction of the cost. Depending on your taste, you might look at a Tudor rock face panel as a faux material to make your fireplace blend with a certain pre-existing architectural look.

Whatever you do, take a look at numerous other outdoor fireplace designs before you start to pare down the potential winners. You may end up coming up with your own unique design when it’s all said and done. In the end you’ll find that if you have done your investigative work thoroughly, you will have chosen and built an outdoor living area that will pay you back with years and years of peaceful open-air enjoyment.

Outdoor Fireplace a Must in the Backyard

When I was a kid, outdoor fire pits were very famous. Everyone had in their backyard. Since I was living in a country town, everyone had a backyard fireplace. There was no much activities in the country towns and every enjoys having a fireplace to hanging out, drinking and sitting around the fireplace in the cool nights.

When I grew up, I decided to build a outdoor fireplace. Fire pit seems to be the best since I have moved to city. I started to build on my own, even though I didn’t have enough knowledge on this. I tried to study and see in the internet for design and structure. I started with a brick outdoor fire pit. I tried to make it professional, but it turned to as amateur. Even though the fire pit was functionally good and did serve for the barbeques it is so elegant. It doesn’t looked a proper fireplace at the end.

So I decided to buy outdoor fireplace kit from the Home Depot store. As I did earlier, I would like to work on my own, but the kit allowed me to put in some while it still gave a nice finished product. It seemed like a great compromise. As in the everything something are not clear, some was little bit tricky but at the end it all came very nicely. I have almost spend a day to set up right. By the end I had something I could really be proud of.

I invited lot of friends for a drink and spent the time in the outdoor fireplace. Everybody liked the fireplace and wanted to have one. Even though some had gas grills, they are not comfortable as the gas grills are cooler. Every member of my family loves to spend the weekends near the fireplace for a nice drink and chat.

Backyard Fireplaces

When investing in a backyard fireplace there are many features you need to think about. For example, the style and size or the whether you want it to be clay or aluminum, what your price range is and where in your backyard you want this fireplace (a backyard fireplace will enhance your home wherever you choose to put it; be it near your patio, deck, and pool, or on the lawn or in the garden).

How do you choose size and style? Well for starters, take a look at your back yard.
Large or small? Think about where you want this fireplace to be. If it is a small area then a large backyard fireplace will be very inconvenient. On the other hand, small backyard fireplaces present the problem of the wood you use being too large. You will have to buy or cut the wood to fit the size of your backyard fireplace, so consider that into your decision, as that may be a big inconvenience for you.

The style of the backyard fireplace you choose will depend on your personality, and your personal tastes. Some people opt for a big clay chimineas that has native paintings on it, others go for a more refined look, and get a nice aluminum fireplace, or build a fireplace out of tiles and slate as though it were indoors. The style you choose will be dictated by your budget, and what you like, not to mention what will best fit and look right near your home and in your yard.

There are different types of backyard fireplaces that need to be considered. One such fireplace is the chiminea, which comes in a variety of sizes and styles, from clay to cast iron. The other option for a backyard fireplace of sorts is a good old fashioned firepit.

If you are looking for something more that has an effect more like the fireplace in your home then the chiminea would be best. It has a neck that draws the smoke out through it, creating only a small amount of smoke to escape toward you at the beginning and end of your fire like that in your home. However, chimineas are larger and cost significantly more than a firepit, so if you are looking for something for a small area or have a tiny budget, the fire pit might be the better way to go.

There are different styles of fire pits, you can get a table top firepit or a fire bowl design, or the traditional camping ring look for a fire pit. The size of a fire put will vary, but ranges from 20 inches in diameter to 45 plus inches; small fire pits are approximately 20-25 inches in diameter, the medium are about 25-35inches in diameter and the large are roughly 40-45 inches in diameter. You can get an inexpensive fire pit for about one hundred dollars, or less, but that wont be guaranteed quality in any way. If you want one that will last for a long time you will probably end up paying more than five hundred dollars. With that price, you can also get a pretty decent chimineas.

Backyard fireplaces are fun to have, they expand your living space, make your yard more comfortable, and give your friends and family a place to gather, so take the time to determine what best suits your lifestyle, and then purchase, and enjoy a nice backyard fireplace.
