A few tips on caring for your fireplace kits:

Regular maintenance is required for fireplace kits in order to ensure good effectiveness and safety. The opening at the top of the fireplace, called a chimney, is concealed by a chimney cap. This prohibits external matter from crossing the threshold.

Cleaning your chimney frequently proves to be an excellent idea as deposits of creosote (condensed flue gas, consisting of steam and vaporized but unburned carbon materials present in the wood) may attribute to a chimney fire. Sooth is also a highly flammable deposit that definitely needs to be eradicated especially if deposited on the chimney walls. At 1/8inches high the chimney must then be cleaned and the deposits removed.

Please keep in mind that fireplace kits should definitely not be used as furnaces and should be used for only a short period of time i.e five hours!

A vacuum cleaner should never be used to absorb the coal from the fireplace as the coal remains hot enough to start a fire up to three days after burning occurs.

Be sure to keep the damper open if there is still smoke coming from the fireplace even after the debris was eradicated.

Backyard fireplaces are simply the best. They are beautiful, affordable, provides heat and an area for entertainment!
