While looking at the backyard I wanted to find contrasting ways in which I could spruce it up. Having a good deal of land at my disposal and nothing in it is so boring and it makes it hard for me to want to go out into it. Sure it is perfect that my youngsters have a good deal of space to run around in – but what can I do to make it a whole lot more fun for me?
That is when I had the bright idea to build an outdoor fireplace along the border of my patio. The terrace is very large when likened to most other homes. Yet, I have not built anything on top of it. This is mainly because, till now, I never understood what I could do with it.
The best thing about making an outdoor fireplace is that it is great to transform something dull and lifeless and to give it a rural or even graceful look to it. It could be either big or small depending on how much room you have available to use. You can even make it the base of the terrace and have comfortable lounges and chairs around it.
Another advantage to this is the ability it gives you to savor the fresh air no matter what time of year it is. During the fall months when the snow is on the ground you will have the ability to light the fire and enjoy the warmth that is coming from it. This makes it a great place to roast marshmallows and for you and your hubby to have some peace and quiet time to yourselves.
The most difficult part is understanding what materials you want to be utilizing when you bring it all together. In the end I chose to make an outdoor stone fireplace. Stone is a little costly – but it is easy to work with and looks great. It is also a material that can be cleaned easily and lasts well when used outdoors.
